Primary metrics first. Derived signals second.
RJNS starts with observable Views, Likes, Comments and available Shares. Derived measures such as engagement rate or outlier multiplier are useful only when the formula, denominator and missing-data assumptions are clear.
- Compare like with like whenever possible: similar formats, periods and account contexts.
- Treat missing metrics as unavailable rather than silently converting them to zero.
- Use ratios and outlier signals to add context, not to hide the raw numbers.
- Separate observations from conclusions so a strong post becomes a hypothesis to investigate, not a guaranteed formula to copy.
